The story captured the Candela C-8 flying silently across Pittwater, demonstrating the same core hydrofoiling capability that has allowed the larger P-12 electric ferry to gain international momentum for passenger transport. By lifting above the water on computer-controlled foils, Candela vessels use around 80% less energy while producing almost no wake — a combination that has quickly positioned the P-12 as a genuine alternative for busy rivers, harbour routes and tourism corridors overseas.
With the C-8 already operating in Australia, the next step is clear: the opportunity to bring this technology to commercial fleets and public transport networks through the P-12.
