The new YYachts Y7 is on the water. Her sailing film brings the latest design into focus: a clean deck, a more open cockpit and a warm, considered interior. At 21.99 metres overall, excluding the bowsprit, with a 6.10-metre beam, the Y7 has the scale to accommodate a variety of sailing plans.
Naval architecture is by judel/vrolijk & co. Carbon-epoxy construction and a self-tacking jib are central to the design, alongside changes to the way owners, guests and crew move through the yacht.
A cockpit made for time aboard
The revised cockpit gives more space between the helm consoles and winches. The working area sits aft, with room to move around the sailing controls and between the helm stations.
Further forward, the asymmetric companionway creates space for a U-shaped sofa to starboard. This is a substantial part of the cockpit arrangement, bringing seating together around a corner of the deck. The overhead view shows how the social and working areas fit within the same space.

A separate crew route connects the accommodation with the cockpit and helm stations. For owners planning to sail with crew, it is a useful detail to explore alongside the cabin layout: movement through the yacht matters as much as the individual rooms.
Space below deck
The engine room has moved from beneath the saloon to a dedicated technical space, with separate crew access for servicing. It is a significant change to the internal arrangement, giving machinery and accommodation more clearly defined places within the yacht.

Interiors by the YYachts team and David Thulstrup take a restrained approach. In the saloon, pale upholstery sits against timber surfaces, with seating and dining space arranged beneath the coachroof windows. The photographs give a sense of the proportions as well as the finishes.
Materials, finishes and layout choices can be discussed around an owner's sailing programme. Family holidays, longer passages and time aboard with friends each place different demands on accommodation, privacy and shared space. Those plans are a good starting point for a conversation about a Y7.
