Good mood, open water, nothing in the way
You cast off and the Y8 does something most big yachts do not: it gets out of your way. The self-tacking jib handles itself, the halyards disappear below deck, the 179-square-metre main draws and pulls and the whole boat settles into its stride without a word being said. That is the idea, reduced to its essentials and left to work.
Below, the YYachts Y8 reshapes itself around whoever is aboard. The engine room, moved under the saloon floor to sit low in the hull, gives the rest of the boat back to living: the saloon opens wide, natural light comes in through a deckhouse designed to keep things cool, and the layout, whether three cabins or four, owner's suite forward or aft, galley open or closed to the saloon, follows the owner rather than the other way around.
